QuickView
A grim, pixelated, platformer ryona game, small in gameplay scope, but with plenty of h-scene variations. I dig the style of it, and the pixel art is quite detailed, in all honesty. You can even enjoy all of the Scenes and CGs avaliable through the "Reminiscence" option, essentially the Gallery of the game. The price, however, feels a bit high for the general content received in the end, so you might want factor in that, as well, in your calculations.
Full Review
Plot = ----
Hah, did you think? Nope, not here either! In all honesty, I'll get to review a game with an actual, feasible, noteworthy story. Quite soon, in fact... But for this game, this sentence-synopsis, straight from DLsite, will suffice: "Rabiane, a sister sent by the Church to exorcise monsters in a cursed land.". Quite simple, there.
Gameplay = 5.75
Mechanics = 6
Most mechanics are the same between the 2 games in the series. Makes my job here easier too. Rabiane here can move and jump normally, and has 2 methods of attacking: melee attack (with a small-sized sword or a big-sized knife, not sure on this one) and ranged attack (with her bow). She has limited arrow count, but arrows can drop from defeated enemies. To shoot, you press or hold the Ranged button. Holding it will show you an target arc, and a reticle constantly moving on it, bouncing between its low end and its high end. This is how you "aim" your bow; whenever you let go of the Ranged button, the arrow will be shot in the current position of the target reticle. Waiting long enough (until the reticle reaches the position you wish for) will allow you to shoot at your desired arc. When holding the Ranged button normally, the reticle starts in the middle position, and first moves to the High position from there. However, if you wish the reticle to start moving from a different position, you can do so by first holding the Up / Down (Crouch) button respectively. Holding either of them will start the reticle in the specific High/Low position chosen. This is particularly useful to be able to shoot the bow at the High/Low positions much faster (without always having to charge it from the Middle position). This is one of the mechanics that is not necessarily explicitly explained by the game.

"Aiming" the bow |
For your own stats, you have your heath, shown as a coloured circle in the upper-left corner, which follows the traffic light system of Green-Yellow-Red to signify how damaged you are. In-game I mean. Next to it, you see your arrow count. Apart from that, whenever you are inflicted with a temporary debuff, you'll see it on your Side Body Status, shown on the left side. The same one that games like this use to show the current (usually bad) condition of the MC. Seeing if you have any debuff (usually slowness) is the one way to use this Status for gameplay purposes (slightly, at least), and not just for fapping motivations.
![]() |
Your in-game HUD. Simple, no numbers. |
As for the enemies, they are quite varied, and can either damage you directly, inflict a temporary debuff on you or Grab you. Of course, during grabs, you constantly take damage. The game also doesn't explicitly tell you this (a bit of a trend here), but you can actually struggle out of grabs by mashing any button that you use for Movement/Attack, apart from the Ranged button for some reason. While you could just mash one of them, as with most mash-stuff, it's way more efficient by mashing multiple buttons instead. It's not that visually communicated that you struggle out of Grabs, at least until you successfully escape them completely. The game also has Bosses, generally bigger monsters with more health. If you die, you generally spawn at the beginning of the current "level" of the stage, and usually, levels are short enough to not be much of a pain dying repeatedly. Cuz it will happen, quite a lot. There are quite a number of stages, all selectable from the map in your Hub area (and after completion, each "level" of them (essentially each part of them split by screen changes) are also selectable). The Hub area of the game is an abandoned-looking church at the edge of the area, at least as shown on the map.
![]() |
Cool Estate and all.... Why was the church so remote, one can only wonder. |
The Hub area is where you return between Stages, where you can set the Difficulty of the game (between Normal and Easy, represented by switching Swords), select the Stage to go to, and, after finishing the game, being able to also switch the Costume (to a white one) or switch the Arrows to Infinite. Useful game completion rewards, apart from the expected Gallery also present.

The mark of an accomplished player |
All of the previous details were for the 1st game mainly. The 2nd game is fairly early in its development (current avaliable version has just 2 levels into it, about 3-4 enemies, and the general gameplay). The 2nd game keeps most of the aspects of the 1st, while having a different visual scale (the main character is bigger than in the previous game, and jumps at a pretty reduced height, scaling to her own height at least), adding the Sprint option, and having visual stats. HP and MP are those stats, and yes, finally, we can see the actual HP values! Her arrow-shooting is the one using the MP, instead of relying on an arrow counter.
Essentially, those were the general details on the gameplay of the game. Movement handles nicely enough, pretty smooth, but also fast when needed, you can jump at varied heights.... Pretty alright. Not many mechanics, as the game is fairly simplistic in nature. For that simplicity, it's actually quite big in size (with the number of Stages and enemies). Still, not many mechanics to keep track of. The rest of the mechanics work much the same way as in the previous, finished, installment, although it's notable that her new melee weapon, a Wand from the looks of it, has a different swing arc (an underhanded one), and you might need to take that into consideration when melee attacking. Still, since the game is in current progress, and pretty early into development, things are, of course, subject to change.

Lookin' good for a 2nd game so far |
Complexity = 6
Fairly simple, as mentioned previously. Considering the limited amount of different actions you can take, the difficulty generally comes from your own skill with the platformer itself, when dealing with the enemies while trying to preserve your health (as much as possible). Since you have the option for an Easier difficulty, at least you're covered on that part. Just as with the fact that there isn't much to speak about the gameplay itself, it doesn't have too many elements to it to make it complex at all. Only bit of arguable complexity is from the mechanics that are not outright explained by the game.
Uniqueness = 6
On one hand, for being a relatively small-type, simplistic, game, it has its own charm, not having many burdening details to it and being fairly easy to get into. On the other hand, for a general ryona game, it's but one of the many. Even in the pixelated genre. The aiming it's one interesting gameplay idea, but the rest are fairly generic.
Replayability = 5
Not sure it really has one, as there isn't much variety in the gameplay itself, much like most adventure-type platformers of this type. At least, if you consider replaying the games, you have the Stage select, but fairly certain you wouldn't replay this game solely for its gameplay, which is more of a one-and-done deal.
Scenes = 6.66
Right out of the gate, I'll say that this observations here apply mostly for the 1st game (eg.: having a Gallery, or more H-scenes, etc.). The 2nd game does seem to follow, so far, the same pattern (eg.: in how the H-scenes are caused by enemy Grabs), with the notable difference that, in the 2nd game, the Side Body Status (and its CGs) are not pixelated anymore, and way more detailed as a result of it.
Visual = 8
I dig the style of the game, being fairly grim, pixelated (which I personally appreciate), quite detailed, even in the more generical aspects like the background or the map. The animations themselves are the in-game Grabs, at times those being kill Grabs, only done when you're already on low health (which lead to your death instantly). Some scenes even get extended game-over continuations, in which you see the poor nun go through even more post-loss suffering. As for the expected CGs, those are your Side Body Status, or rather, how Rabiane's body will look when going through all the types of debuffs / Grabs / deaths. Each enemy has a specific Game Over CG for her Side Body Status, in line with the pixelated animation you get. Also, most animations do have a further continuation if she dies during them.

Never fall asleep in nature! Never! |
While there are plenty of different animations, and they are fairly smooth and detailed, each of them are quite short (and usually, loop around, especially for the Grabs before they kill you). Clearly, a quantity-over-length approach.
Written = -
Interactibility = 4
Apart from the basic integration into a game (basically, being Grabs that you end up in if caught by the enemies), very little. You can't even see how much you struggle during the Grabs! Most you can see is your health, ticking down (well, coloring down to be more exact). You're just as well off seeing the scenes in the game's Gallery as seeing them in actual action.
Replayability = 8
There is an argument to be made here. You have quite a number of individual H-scenes (most extending with the Death animation or even some specific Post-loss scenes), and a Gallery, the "Reminiscence" room, selectable on the Map after finishing the game, from which you can see all the animations and the different CGs for the Body Status. Just a bit weird that the Gallery is implemented like any other Stage, which might be confused or overlooked by some, but considering that the game does not have a Main Menu, it's one of the few choices left for the game to take.
Development =
Conversely, here I'll refeer only to the development of the 2nd game, as it is the one currently in that status.
Stability = 8
I'll be honest, so far I hadn't used Ci-en that much, especially to track developer's progress. Mostly because it's mainly Japanese. However, it is popular with lots of Circle Groups with products on DLsite. It's here that the updates currently are for this Developer as well. From the looks of it, he is providing stable updates as to what it's currently worked on. As for actual game releases... Not as often. The current one is fairly recent (v1.6.0 on Oct 23, current year), but the last one has been quite a few months ago. It also looks like the developer is currently adding quite some new functions to the 2nd game, including a Hold gauge (essentially to show your progress in Struggling out of Grabs), Quest system, NPCs, talking, Map selections more detailed... Looks like the 2nd game might really be a medium-sized game, through-and-through. Good evolution. We'll have to see how the development continues from here on out.
Communication = 9
Well, considering he currently has quite often updates to communicate the news on the game, it's quite good. Even some personal circumstances are explained. (although having a PC change can affect development, so I can see why he'd inform the fans on that matter; I also still did not switch to Windows 11 btw). Answering the comments on the post is also a good added plus.
Obtaining = 7
Price = 6
On DLsite, for the first game, the practical price for the full version is 1,210 JPY, or $8.15. The game can also be bought as the Lite version instead, at a lower price, but that leaves you without the Side Body Status (and the CGs of it), Game Over scenes and some Stages. You can always upgrade to Full version by buying what's called the "R18 DLC", which essentially costs the difference of price, just to upgrade you to the proper, normal, version. Weird choice, considering the game also offers you, as with most DLsite products, the Demo free option, without the need to have a specific Lite version, but I guess this is also a choice too.
Apart from those details, the price... a bit high, I'll say. You get some content for it, in various scenes and whatnot, but it's still a relatively small game in scope. I'd be more on board with it being, at most, around 6 dollars, but that might be just me in the end.

I'll also mention, about the 2nd game, still being in development, it's only avaliable (well, its current version at least) through Ci-en, by supporting the developer. The Tier required for it it's only 500 Yen (convert it yourself if needed), which might be a bit high right now for such a prototype, but considering that, at some point, it will grow in size and development, I'd say that one is a good price to pay. Also, if you wish to keep on supporting the dev, since he's actively working on the game. That as well.
Methods = 8
For the first game, being on DLsite, it's pretty good. A bit confusing about the Lite & R18 DLC situation, but if you quickly add up the prices and see that those 2 equal to the main full game, you'll probably realize fast enough which one you need for yourself. With that, you also have options.
The 2nd game is a bit more obscure, being on Ci-en, but it's still in development, so it's understandable in that case.
FINAL SCORE = 6.97
Overall, a good, small-ish, game, which has a good number of pixelated h-scenes to enjoy. The price feels a bit steep for the currently-completed game, so you might want to look into price offers for that one. Or enjoy the 2nd game as it's being developed, and you can get it through supporting the developer on the specific tier. Whichever works best for you.
Currently, I've only made Files for the 1st game (since the 2nd doesn't have much in the terms of current progress to be saved on a Save). I might return in the future to complete the 2nd game as well, when it's close to finished, or even fully finished.
Saves
The Save with the completed game. Easily understood.
Info
I wrote just a bit of info on the Bow Charge mechanic, if it was too obscure for some. Also, for the 2nd game, the Debug Commands, also mentioned in the Ci-en posts (but could be hard to scroll through, being long and in japanese and all...).
Finally, done! Halloween is over!... Wait, I'm wrong there. October is still going strong.... Shit. Well, regardless, I'm done preparing specifically for scary stuff. As an aside, don't expect plenty of themed posts in the future. While I think I could scrounge up games for Christmas or New Year's, I doubt there are many fitting those parameters, and, you know, being worthwhile reviewing as well. Still, if you have suggestions, you can let me know! No promises for themed posts though.
Well, I'll now have to prepare for the next post.... That one, that, will be a tad bit bigger in scope. Liked it nonetheless.... stay tuned for it! And, you know, also for the blog itself! Only if you wish, of course.
